Durango or Bust

The 4th of July has come and gone and I think America would be proud. Brianne and I spent our independence by selling our junk in Durango,CO and seeing old friends make new commitments.

Our trip began the 30th of June with a late lunch at one of Colorado's greatest hot dog stands The Boardwalk at Coney Island.

It was quite the effort getting there on account of the red truck towing a RV that decided he would ignore our car's turn signal and come deathly close to crashing into the back of us. After that experience, you really want hot dog.

Not the biggest place once you get inside, but what they lack in space they make up for with yummy eats.

We just beat the rush

The biggest table in the place barely was big enough to hold the cup

We opted to sit outside and enjoy the view

and what a view it is

After a wonderful lunch we hit the road on our way to Durango by way of US Route 285

We took a quick break for the dogs and to enjoy the wonderful weather

the wonder of clouds

Once we got onto Durango we headed directly to the downtown area for the Evenings on Eighth, which is a gathering of the community every Wednesday evening to promote local food, crafts, music and most importantly beer!

The sweets sounds of a local blue grass band

how will he ever decide

I scream for creepy vans

Nothing beats the summer heat like some Bicycle Lemonade

Another wonderful day in Colorado

And so ends our first day

We had to wake up early the next morning to take the pups to see their vet. To treat them for being so good, we took them to their favorite swimming spot at Lemon Reservoir

the red sand is cool but gets ever where

You to can hit up our secret spot anytime, just look for this aspen tree. It's that easy.

If you are out that way you can always go for a horse ride

On the way home we saw the local sheep farm taking new babies out for a walk

It's hard work tending to sheep.

Brianne suggested we go up to Fort Lewis and get some shots of town

on the drive back to Denver we stumbled upon a plaque for the San Luis Valley section of the Old Spanish Trail

Thus another Evans adventure comes to an end. It was great to see family and friends, even though it was strange feeling like a tourist in your home town. So it goes.
