The Denver Chalk Art Festival on Larimer Square, Part 2!

It's Sunday, day two of the Denver Chalk Art Festival, and what a day it was. It had rained the night before, not what you want to happen during a chalk art festival. Thankfully none of the artist's drawings where damaged. Lets take a look at some pics, shall we?

It was the last day of the festival, so it was packed!

Hard at work in the hot sun.

This one was really well done. The chalk on the ground reflects off the mirrored column on the inside, also known as anamorphic projection.

Winner of People's Choice

I prefer my fine art in chalk form.

Winner of Best Reproduction of a Master's Work

More things need laser eyes.

Winner of Most Whimsical

It was so hot that these kids from Lakewood High School told me that the chalk was melting onto the sidewalk. It most have worked in their favor, because they were Winners of the Youth Challenge.

I was most excited to see this one finished. I asked the artist if the rain was a problem.
He told me some of the more well known artists had tents for their work while others did not. Fortunately, when he arrived in the morning he didn't have too much to fix.

I believe with Calvin and Hobbes, we can heal the world.

This was the big winner of the day taking home Best in Show first prize.

Elephants poop chalk. I did not know that.

Winner of the Gusterman Silversmith's Artistic Merit Award for Creative Excellence. Or the G.S.A.M.F.A.C.E.

Beware of vampire angels!

Artist, drawing artist drawing artist, drawing artist. Then my head  mega exploded.

Winner of Best 3-D

We had a great time and well done to all the artists that competed. Find out who won and see more pictures from the event at Denver Chalk Art and Denver Chalk Art Facebook.
