California Wedding Trip

1000 miles one way. 16hrs. Lakewood,CO to Sierra Madre,CA. That was the journey that laid before Bri and I and the dogs. The only way we could get it done was to go straight through the night, no breaks. Could we do it? Not even a snow storm in Utah could stop us.

Like any road trip, you make a stop at the trail through time. It was only a gateway to 5 mins into the past so we decided to move on.

Trouble a brewing. We hit a snow storm around 7pm and it didn't let up until Nevada. We got to Sierra Madre around 3 am. It's quite the place, Sierra Madre. Especially if you have never been and it's dark. Let's just say they have some narrow roads in the canyons. We eventually made it to the Dunn residence for a well deserved sleep.

The next morning we decided to waste no time and do some sight seeing. We took long and windy drive up to the Santa Anita Dam.

What a view

Some local art

I thought there would be more doom

We headed back down the mountain and back into the canyon to see what the neighborhood was like.

What are these strange green eggs?

We don't have flowers like this in Coloardo

Mr. Dunn took us on a walking tour

Good to know

This house is one earthquake away from sliding down the mountian

It was a wonderful wedding and we really enjoyed our time in California.

A pit stop for the dogs on our way home on another 1000 mile drive.

Jealous?

Home sweet home

We stopped by ol' Durango before heading back up to Denver, for a hair cut and some boxes. The trip went perfectly until about 1 hr. before Denver the semi truck in front of us decided to start sliding on the ice and jack-knife across the two lane road. But, Bri's driving prowess saved us from collision. The one regret is not having the camera at the ready.

Thank you Leo and Vondy for your generous hospitality.
Thank you Bronco Bill for letting us crash at your pad.
